It was quite a week of competition for Quebec’s Isabelle Lapierre, who after finishing third in the qualifying event on Friday, won, with her 10 year-old KWPN mare, the first leg of the North American League of the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping, held in Bromont Canada on Sunday, August 6, 2017.

Six make it to the jump-off
Thirty-two starting pairs competed in this World Cup qualifying event, on a course designed by Belgian Luc Musette. With 13 obstacles for 16 efforts, including a triple combination following a broken line and an adjusted time allowed of 79 seconds in the first round, the course presented a high level of difficulty to the entered duos.

Three Canadians and their mounts succeeded in making it to the second round, Jennifer Serek & Wicked, Isabelle Lapierre & Cescha M as well as Ali Ramsay & Hermelien VD Hooghoeve. They were joined by Colombian rider Juan Manuel Gallego with Coulash van de Broy Z as well as Americans Charlie Jacobs & Cassinja S and Heather Caristo-Williams with Qui Vive des Songes Z.

First in the jump-off, Heather Caristo-Williams and Qui Vive des Songes Z hit the ninth obstacle thus leaving the door open for the following competitors. Canadian Jenn Serek, second in the jump-off with Wicked, takes the lead with a clear round in 43.70 seconds, but they are quickly bested by Lapierre and Cescha M who executed a clear round in 43.39 seconds.
