Just one week after winning Team Silver at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, on Saturday, August 27th 2016, Kent Farrington kept his good form by winning at the Longines St. Moritz CSI5* in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
Farrington rode Gazelle, a 10-year-old BWP mare (Kashmir Van Schuttershof x Indoctro) in the 1.50m jumpoff class against 48 other starters. Eleven pairs qualified for the jumpoff and of those, seven made it a double clear day.
He entered the arena for the jump off at a calm walk and beat the leading time of Pieter Devos for Belgium by almost two seconds. Farrington and Gazelle produced the fastest time of 36.18 seconds for victory in the CHF 35,000 Prize Notenstein La Roche Private Bank AG.
Last to go was Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels, who tried his best to beat Farrington’s time and take home the win but he wasn’t fast enough and finished in 36.46 seconds settling for 2nd place aboard the 10-year-old Belgian mare Gancia de Muze (Malito de Reve X Nimmerdor). Devos and the 12-year-old BWP gelding Espoir (Surcouf De Revel X Laudanum XX) finished in 3rd place.
Fourth place went to the Saudí rider Kamal Bahamdan and Lacasino in 38.65 seconds and 5th place was for Friday’s big class winner Lorenzo de Luca in 38.65 seconds riding Halifax van het Kluizebos.
