On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, the 12-year-old KWPN mare Athene (Berlin x Numero Uno), ridden by Aniek Poels of The Netherlands, was withdrawn from the Longines FEI Nations Cup Jumping Final in Barcelona, Spain.

“Athene incurred an injury when she was taken out of the truck and has therefore been withdrawn,” said team manager Ad Wagemakers.

The remaining horses on the Dutch Team all passed Wednesday’s veterinary inspection. The Netherlands will start second in the order:

Jur Vrieling (Holwierde) – VDL Glasgow Vh Merelsnest

Michel Hendrix (Kessel Lb) – Baileys

Marc Houtzager (Rouveen) – Sterrehof’s Calimero

Harrie Smolders (Low Mierde) – Don VHP Z
