or the second year in a row, Barcelona will host the final of the most important competition of the international equestrian calendar, the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Final. This has been determined by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) during the celebration of its General Assembly in the Swiss city of Montreux, being held until this Thursday the 7th.
This competition, which brings together the best male and female riders in the world, will once again be included as part of the program of competition of the oldest sporting event in Spain, the CSIO Barcelona. The jumping competition will reach from October 9th to 12th 2014 its 103rd edition.
“We are proud that the IEF has once again trusted in us to host the final of the Nations Cup”, assures Eudaldo Bonet, president of the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona (RCPB). “This means that they were very satisfied with the work done by the Club in the organization of the first edition”, he adds.
At the end of September, 90 male and female riders and more than 160 horses from 18 countries jumped on the Olympic arena of the RCPB, to dispute the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Final, the competition with the largest prize money in history: 2.3 million Euros. By just a one point difference, France prevailed in the great final ahead of Brazil. Ireland, for its part, finished in third place.
