It is Switzerland’s Beat Mändli and Louis that went to the top of the Glock’s Final Grand Prix Tour today in Treffen, Austria. Exactly 48 riders from 22 nations had entered the €60,000 Grand Prix including an all-star international list of London Olympians as well as 2010 WEG notables.

Ireland’s Trevor Coyle was also in attendance with his newly acquired Carlina, previously ridden at the London Olympics with Pius Schwizer as well as Kamal Bahamdan of Saudi Arabia with the lovely Delphi.

Twelve riders made it to the second round, and three of them were Dutch. A battle between the Netherlands and Switzerland would determine the winner of this weekend’s Austrian title.

It was London’s double silver medalist, Gerco Schröder, who took the lead after delivering the first clear round in the jump-off; stopping the clock at 42.11 seconds. It was not to last however, as his team mate Marc Houtzager and Sterrehof’s Uppity pushed their way to the top shortly afterwards. The tall Dutchman earned a time of 40.03 seconds, taking over the lead.

But it was Switzerland’s Beat Mandli, who was last to enter the jump-off. With his ever quick bay Louis, Beat delivered the ride of the day, stopping the clock at 39.16 seconds!

“Louis has jumped super, and the last four days here were just great. I’ve been to many great places in the world, but it has been truly unique here in Treffen with the Glock family. Thank you,” Beat said after his win. Although the win was Swiss, the next three spots belonged to Holland with Marc, Gerco and Wout-Jan van der Schans following on the result list.

Congratulations to Beat and Louis for a great win in Austria!
