fter an incredible summer of outstanding wins and amazing results, it comes as no surprise that Britain’s very own Ben Maher has taken over the World’s #1 spot on the Longines World Rankings.
Winning the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of London, winning the Grand Prix of Europe in Aachen, winning the Royal Bunn Leisure Cup and the Longines King George V Gold Cup at Hickstead, a Nations Cup victory in Dublin and a third place finish in the Longines Grand Prix of Dublin is just a taste of how London-based rider has been doing this summer.
The European Championships in Herning, Denmark were a great success for the 2012 Olympic gold medallist. Winning the first qualifying event aboard his amazing mare Cella before taking the European Gold medal with a Team victory for Great Britain. For the final Individual test, Ben finished second overall, next to European Champion Roger-Yves Bost.
“Wow, I can’t believe it, being ranked no 1 in the world,” tweeted Ben from Spruce Meadows, Calgary this week, where he will be competing in the Masters. “Thank you to my team, sponsors and all of my horses.”
