he last six years Björn Nagel has been competing for the Ukraine and has been adorning the blue and yellow signature colors for the European Championship, the World Championship and the Olympic Games. However, that has all come to an end now! Since Tuesday, Bjorn will be competing for Germany once more.

“I had some really interesting years with the Team of Alexander Onyschenko and we didn’t go separate ways because of a fight. But now I have new goals and has made some other priorities.” says Björn.

The German rider can compete at international shows for his country as of Tuesday but a rule by FEI stipulates it to be impossible for him to compete in any FEI Rolex World Cup, Nations Cups or Championship for Germany for the next 24 months. However, despite that I am sure that Bjorn, along with the rest of Germany are happy to have him back.

Team Ukraine finished 14th out of 15 teams in the Olympic Team final. The team composed of Katherina Offel, Cassio Rivetti and the famed oil billionaire Alexander Onyschenko, along with Bjorn. 32 year old Cassio Rivetti placed highest Individually, with a 12th place finish overall in the Individual final aboard his Hannovarian gelding Temple Road.

The Ukraine has been well known for recruiting riders from other countries in order to strengthen the team. Katharina Offel is originally from Germany, Cassio Rivetti from Sao Paolo, Brazil and Bjorn from Brunsbuttel, Germany.

Other riders who have ridden for the Ukranian flag are Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet, Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat, Germany’s Frank Sloothaak and Denmark’s Tina Lund.
