Trevor Coyle has confirmed that Switzerland’s Olympic mare Carlina has left his stables today for Germany where the mare will be picked up to join her new owner and rider, Ukraine’s Alexander Onischenko. The sale was made final this week. The mare, who was a member of the Swiss Olympic team last summer in London with Pius Schwizer, will compete in Arezzo with the Ukrainian Olympic team member.

The lovely mare, who was owned by François Leiser, joined Trevor Coyle and his team in Brussels, Belgium in August of last year, taking a short rest following the Olympics and then resuming competition with one of Ireland’s highly renowned and well-respected riders. Now it seems the 12 year old mare will be seen jumping for the Ukrainian flag.

Carlina was very successful under Schwizer, who is currently ranked 4th in the world on the current Longines Rankings ; winning the World Cup qualifiers in Oslo and in Helsinki in 2011. Last year, they were a part of the Swiss Nations Cup teams in La Baule, St.Gallen and Aachen, while finishing third in the World Cup final in Den Bosch.

We wish the new horse and rider combination the very best of luck for the 2013 season and look forward to seeing the lovely mare in action very soon.
