Daniel Deusser wins €62,000 1.50m CSI5* Grand Prix Qualification at Knokke

Stephex Stables rider Daniel Deusser won the Grand Prix qualification on Friday, July 1st, 2016 at Knokke Hippique CSI5*. Deusser was fastest in the €62,000 CSI5* 1.50m class presented by RR Interieur by a very tight margin of 0.03 seconds. The German rider and his mount, the 14-year-old Belgian mare Equita Van T Zorgvliet (Cassini I X Darco) produced a double clear and finished the jump off in 35.06 seconds.

Very close to him, in a time of 35.09 seconds, finished the current Longines FEI World No. 1, USA’s Mclain Ward riding the 14-year-old Zangersheide gelding HH Carlos Z (Chellano Z X Voltaire).

Belgium’s Gregory Whatelet earned the 3rd place producing two clear rounds aboard the 10-year-old Westfalian mare Coree (Cornet Obolensky x Liberty Life) in a time of 35.68 second. Whatelet finished his Friday be winning the final class of the day on Oh d’Eole—the competition relay conducted in a battle of the sexes format.

Home riders kept producing clear rounds with another double clear from Thursday’s big class winner, Nicola Philippaerts riding H&M Harley Vd Bisschop in a time of 35.71 seconds to finish 4th, while the 5th place was for Jos Verlooy riding Caracas in 36.37 seconds.
