The results of the 2014 KWPN Horse of the Year election were announced this evening: Zenith SFN is the winner! Those present to honor him included his breeder, the Supervisory Board, the selectors, and the shareholders of the Dutch Show Jumper Funds (SFN). During the award ceremony, the Voort family of Den Ham was presented the Nimmerdor Trophy from the Hanse family, the breeders of the 2013 KWPN Horse of the Year, Valegro.

Zenith SFN made history last year. The sensitive bay gelding excelled in the World Equestrian Games in Caen, where he captured the Dutch team gold in spectacular fashion and then qualified for the thrilling “final four” final. Those achievements paved the way for the individual gold medal for Zenith SFN’s rider, who skillfully trained the talented jumper to the Grand Prix level and let him peak at precisely the right moment: former Olympic champion Jeroen Dubbeldam. Since then the SFN has announced that Zenith SFN will stay with Dubbeldam through the 2016 Olympics. Although no one knows if the gelding will add an Olympic title to his list of achievements, one thing is certain: Zenith SFN is already considered a star by his rider, breeders, registered parties, and our studbook. For these reasons, he is the 2014 KWPN Horse of the Year 2014! The audience gave both horse and rider a standing ovation.
