Felix Hassmann and Balance Win KBC Bank and Insurance Prize at Mechlen CSI5*-W

The KBC Bank & Insurance Award was the first heavy test for the five-star riders at Jumping Mechelen CSI5*-W in Mechelen, Belgium on Thursday, December 29, 2017. In a jump-off with ten, victory went to Felix Hassmann with Balance, a ten-year-old Westphalian mare by Balou du Rouet x Landadel.

Felix: “I was already ten years ago in Mechelen, but then I did the CSI2 * (mainly in the B track) and my brother Toni rode the CSI5 *. We bought Balance as a foal and trained her ourselves. She has a lot of power and is very careful. She does not have a big canter but I can really go all the way to the obstacles. Yesterday I rode her fourteen-year-old full brother in the Sires of the World, but unfortunately we had a mistake on the last obstacle. ”

The Dutchman Harrie Smolders was second with Zinius, Niels Bruynseels with Angel van ‘t Hof was the best Belgian in third place.
