erco Schroder beats Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and Edwina Tops-Alexander for the CSI5* GCT Grand Prix of Cannes tonight in France.

Gerco beat Rolf and Edwina with a time of 34.22. It is unfortunate turn of events for Australia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander, who placed third after just missing out on historic hat-trick. Edwina currently leads the GCT rankings with 131 points, 19 points ahead of Germany’s Marcus Ehning.

Schroder was aboard Eurocommerce London, his 10 year old BWP Chestnut Stallion. A stallion he has been competing on the 2012 Global Champions Tour consistently. Along with Eurocommerce London, Gerco cites Berlin, Eurocommerce Monaco, Milano VI, Eurocommerce New Orleans, Eurocommerce and California as the best horses of his career.

A dedicated and hardworking rider, 33 year old Dutchman has quite the list of accolades, winning the European Championships with his team in Aachen in 2006. In 2007, he went on to become European Champion in Mannheim, in 2008 his team came in 4th at the Olympic Games in Hong Kong and in 2011 he won the CSI 5* Grand Prix at Rio de Janeiro.

This year is already proving to be a good year for Gerco, with 2nd place at the CS1 4* Grand Prix in Amsterdam and 5th place at the CSI 5* Grand Prix at Grand Palais in Paris. He is currently in 4th place on the GCT rankings with 101 points so far.
