Great Britain Out of Nations Cup Final As Europe Division 1 League Concludes

Hickstead CSIO5* marked the end of the qualifying season for the 2016 Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final, and the chips have now fallen for countries in the Europe Division 1 League that were hoping to book their ticket to Barcelona this September.

The biggest news is that Great Britain is out of the Final; after a less than stellar day at Hickstead, they end the league in overall 8th place. Only the top seven countries will attend the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona, Spain on September 24th.

The Netherlands, which led the Division 1 League ever since winning at La Baule CSIO5* in May, kept their lead to easily qualify for Barcelona, despite a poor performance on the day at Hickstead.

Ireland booked their ticket with a 2nd place Division 1 finish; their Nations Cup victory at St Gallen CSIO5* and 2nd place at Dublin CSIO5* contributed to a strong season and paid off well.

Germany finished in 3rd place overall, and behind them Switzerland, Sweden, France and Italy lined up in the qualifying positions for the Final.

While Italy didn’t have the day they hoped for at Hickstead, they rode the power of their Nations Cup win last week at Dublin to eek into the qualified group for the Final, which was their overall goal.
