Since starting his campaign in the United Arab Emirates in January of 2018, Henrick Von Eckermann has been riding a wave of top results with yet another win in CSI5* competition this weekend at CSIO5* Abu Dhabi.

Take a look at Von Eckermann’s placings over the last two months and you’ll see a list that consists of multiple top level victories such as the CSI4* Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi, CSI5*-W 1.45m qualifier for the World Cup in Dubai, CSI4* Grand Prix at Al Shira’aa, and the Longines FEI World Cup Grand Prix Victory In Sharjah.

Each of these victories were made possible by the quiet consistency of the 11-year-old OS gelding Chacanno (Chacco-Blue x Kannan).

“The horse is amazing. He is very, very careful and then when it comes to jump offs he’s a very quick horse,” Von Eckermann commented after their victory in Al Shira’aa. Von Eckermann’s partner since 2016 has also, now led him to Saturday’s 1.50m Accumulator in Abu Dhabi.

Out of a field of 48, Von Eckermann and Chacanno clocked the fastest time in 48.08 seconds. Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al Sharbatly followed as runner-up with the 13-year-old Oldenburg chestnut gelding Crazy Quick (Chacco-Blue x Quick Star) while Great Britain’s Samuel Hutton rounded out the top 3 spots with the 11-year-old Holsteiner stallion Aramis (Askari x Campione) in 50.03 seconds.

Von Eckermann currently holds second place in the Western European League standings with 64 points and as it is a championship year with the World Equestrian Games in Tryon in September and the World Cup Jumping Final in Paris in April, it’s a pretty safe bet that we’ll continue to see more top results from this pairing over the next several months. (We’re calling it!)
