Coriana Van Klapscheut
You might never be able to spell her name correctly but you can always pick this lively chestnut mare out from a crowd. This pint-sized personality has come out from behind the shadow of Eric’s stallion Hickstead, one of history’s greatest horses, to prove that she too has something to bring to the table.
Coriana is the epitomy of a chestnut mare. She has more personality then many horses put together. But it is this personality that has allowed this 10 year old Belgian-bred mare to come leaps and bounds from when Eric Lamaze and Stephan Conter found her three years ago.
Stephan Conter, of Stephex Stables, found this little ball of energy as a 7 year old and Eric Lamaze and Artisan Farms bought her just before the summer series at Spruce Meadows. She was incredibly green and 5 weeks of competition at Spruce Meadows for the Summer series was a lot to ask of the young mare but, as you can imagine, this fighter was up to the challenge and she excelled under the intensity of international competition. She made such incredible progress in just 5 weeks that she returned to Belgium to win the 7 year olds in Valkenswaard.
