France’s Kevin Staut now leads the Longines Global Champions Tour Season Rankings after winning the Grand Prix of Paris with his long-time partner Silvana HDC. The amazing combination, who have an impressive list of accomplishments behind them, earned 40 very valuable points yesterday after their Grand Prix victory. Overall, Kevin has had a very consistent season thus far on the Longines Global Champions Tour circuit, earning three top six placings over the last 6 weeks. Kevin finished third in the Grand Prix of Cannes with Silvana HDC, earning a hefty 35 points.
Staut and Oh d’Eole finished sixth in the Grand Prix of Monaco only a couple weeks ago which brought Kevin higher on the standings and more in contention for the lead. But it was Saturday’s victory aboard the amazing 15 year old mare Silvana HDC that truly made the difference, allowing Staut to take over the lead from Australia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander, with only a single point differentiating Staut from 2012 LGCT Season Runner up, Rolf-Goran Bengtsson.
With next week’s riders heading to Estoril, Portugal, many riders will look to push themselves up the rankings. All the riders in the LGCT Top 10 will attend Estoril, Portugal next week except for second place position Rolf-Goran Bengtsson, so current leader Kevin Staut might have the opportunity to extend the distance between him and Rolf-Goran Bengtsson, who is hot on his heels.
