Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show Joins 2018 LGCT Event Lineup

The announcement of the 2018 Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League show schedule revealed the addition of two new locations to the join the upcoming season’s already impressive lineup: Prague’s O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic and the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show CSI5* in St. Tropez, France.

Organized by Athina Onassis, the glamorous five-star event was moved to the beautiful Pampelonne Beach in France in 2014 where it has since seen many successful show seasons.

Now, in it’s fifth edition, the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show will premiere as the sixth stop on the 17-event Global tour with 100 riders and nearly 200 horses expected to attend with more than twenty nations represented.

From May 31 to June 2, 2018, the venue will play host to both CSI5* and CSI2* level classes with a total of €617,000 offered in prize money including the Longines Global Champions Grand Prix with €300,000 in prize money and the new Global Champions League.

In a statement released on February 2, 2018, Event Director, Denis Monticolo, expressed his excitement for LAOHS’s partnership with the LGCT and GCL:

“I am really proud that the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show has been chosen as the stage of the prestigious Longines Global Champions Tour. After having settled on the Pampelonne Beach since four years and having established itself as a meeting point for international jumping, the LAOHS crosses a new course with this new partner. Joining this international circuit – which aims to promote “the best of show jumping” in beautiful locations all around the world – will support us to fortify our notoriety and visibility. It is a great honor for us!”
