icola Philippaerts has with Cortez won the Grand Prix of Lummen this weekend. After 8 combinations failed to jump clear after the first round, Nicola Philippaerts and Cortez earned the only error free score in the second round. Therefore wining the Grand Prix title of Lummen, making this his second Grand Prix title of his blossoming career, after the Grand Prix of Falsterbo last year with Carlos.
“This is a fantastic feeling” said a very happy Nicola after the Grand Prix of Lummen. “Last year I won with Carlos in Falsterbo but this is my first win with Cortez. Last week in Antwerp he jumped all excellent and I knew he could also perform here only do you occasionally need a little luck. Cortez showed this weekend he was because of the five rounds he remained driven error free. As I already said before the weekend, I have the buttons found to Cortez. The first round saw fifty combinations on the start list and top 15 earned a spot in the second round. Traditionally, a jump-off was also set to occur but as Nicola was the only rider without penalties after two rounds, the Grand Prix title went to Nicola. Bernardo Alves and Cloud Nine II came close to delivering a jump off for the Belgian crowd, but with one time penalty in the second round, the pair finished second ahead of Neriske Prinsloo and Bill Clinton with two penalties.
