hilipp Weishaupt and Monte Bellini in Rome for the FEI Furusiyya Nations Cup
It has been confirmed that Philipp Weishaupt will remain with his lovely bay stallion Monte Bellini. Ludger Beerbaum’s company, LB Stables, have invested in the 11 year old stallion along with well-known and highly-respected owner Madeline. Originally owned by the National stud, Landgestüt Sachsen-Anhalt, since he was 3 years old, Monte Bellini now finds himself a permanent fixture of LB Stables.
No one is more excited and happy about this development, then top German rider, Philipp Weishaupt, who not so long ago lost his top international stallion Catoki to Denmark. A horse he competed with at the 2012 Spruce Meadows Masters and won, along with Team Germany, the BMO Nations Cup title. “Catoki was 14 years old so it made sense” said Philipp. But now, as Philipp explains, his top international string is slightly leaner then in previous years so the desire to maintain his ride on Monte Bellini was certainly apparent. “It’s not such a nice feeling when you don’t know what will happen, until everything is settled.”
“I’m very happy I can ride such a good horse. It’s my best horse and if I did not have this horse then I could not continue competing at the top sport” said Philipp. “We were all able to come to a nice agreement, so I am very happy.”
Ludger, along with Madeline, elected to purchase the stallion to ensure that one of his top riders at LB Stables, remains competing at the highest level. The pair competed for Team Germany in Rome, two weeks ago with strong results. The pair will travel to London this week for the exciting Longines GCT event near the Olympic Park and afterwards travel to Rotterdam, where they will compete for Germany in the Nations Cup despite recent revelations that Germany can no longer collect Nations Cup points towards the Final in September.
