The CHI Geneva Horse Show (December 10-13th, 2015) will be Plot Blue’s final competition of his career, as plans to retire the great stallion in a ceremony at Geneva were announced today.

Plot Blue, a 18-year-old KWPN stallion (Mr. Blue x Pilot) has been ridden throughout his career by Germany’s Marcus Ehning. They won the 2010 FEI World Cup Jumping Final in Geneva, and that same year helped Germany win Team Gold at the FEI World Equestrian Games. Ehning and Plot Blue finished in the Individual Top Ten at the 2012 London Olympic Games, and in the five years since they’ve continued to mark victory after victory at the top of the sport. As his career wound down this year, the stallion spent just 11 weeks competing, with next week’s CHI Geneva to mark his 12th and final competition of 2015.

Bred in Holland by F.C.M. Burgers, Plot Blue is a half brother to the prolific show jumping stallion Oklund. Since 2011, Plot Blue has been owned by Kathrin Somogyi and Marcus Ehning. It was Kathrin who purchased Plot Blue as a young horse, and Switzerland’s Werner Muff trained him as a five year old, giving him a stellar start to his acclaimed career. Muff and Plot Blue helped Switzerland win the Nations Cup win at Rotterdam in 2006 and competed together at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games.

The upcoming retirement ceremony will mark the end of an era for Ehning, who forged a deep connection with the stallion and marked their career together with an amazing record of consistency.
