Popstar Lozonais (Quick Star x Muguet du Manoir), originally ridden by Belgium’s Jerome Guery, will now be seen under New Zealand’s Sharn Wordley. With no less than 10 international victories to their credit including the CSI2* Rosières aux Salines Grand Prix, Popstar Lozonais and Jerome Guery certainly drew notice this year, including the attention of Ashland stables. The 10 year old French-bred stallion, who won in Copenhagen, Franconville, Kapellen, Gijon, Strazeele this year, will be making his way to Florida to join the impressive team of horses at the Fleischhacker’s Ashland Stables. We spoke with Ashland’s main rider Sharn Wordley (NZL), who will be riding this adorable bay stallion for the upcoming WEF season.
How are you feeling about a new exciting stallion like Popstar Lozonais? “I’m extremely excited to have popstar as I have a really good team of horses at the moment but nothing I can go really fast on as derly is getting ready for both million dollar hits classes this winter as we get ready for WEG and my other two gp horses are a bit young to be going really fast so it’s exciting to have a horse like him to fast.”
What are your plans for the WEF season and the 2014 season? “I’m only going to do one 5* star show and then we have a team for the Nations Cup other wise I’m going to do four HITS shows to qualify for the Million in Thermal and then the Million in Ocala the following week.”
