After the fifth leg of the Longines FEI World Cup Western European League in London, the World Cup rankings certainly looks interesting ahead of the next leg in Mechelen, Belgium.

It is safe to say that Britain’s World #1, Scott Brash and recent winner of the Rolex Grand Prix of Geneva, Steve Guerdat are safe and sound for the FEI World Cup Finals in Lyon, France next April. Scott has now collected 52 points and Steve has collected 51 points, which means that both riders can rest easy, knowing they have a pretty secure position in the Longines World Cup Western European League.

In third position on the Western European League is this week’s winner, Maikel van der Vleuten. Taking over the third position with a total of 40 points. Scott Brash’s good friend Tim Gredley, who has collected his points in the US and  in Canada, is now ranked in fourth position with 36 points, while Germany’s Marcus Ehning stands in fifth position. Australia’s leading lady Edwina Tops-Alexander holds on to sixth position with 35 points while Belgium’s Francois Mathy Jr. has earned 34 points so far this season. Portugal’s Luciana Diniz has 32 points and Germany’s man of speed, Hans-Dieter Dreher is on ranked number nine with 26 points. HDC’s very own Patrice Delaveau has earned 23 points to hold onto tenth position and round out the Western European League’s Top 10.

Five more legs remain in the 2013/2014 Longines FEI World Cup Western European League. These are Mechelen (BEL) Leipzig (GER), Zürich (SUI), Bordeaux (FRA) and Gothenburg (SWE).
