Today’s main competition at the international venue of Hickstead concluded with a win for Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al Sharbatly. Aboard his 11-year-old mare Chesterfield, Al Sharbatly finished the 1.50 course in 40.20 seconds. Many of us know the mare as the previous top international  mount for Holland’s Henk van de Pol but now the horse competes under Saudi Arabia. Britain’s Joe Clayton followed in a second place with Ingliston Twister after a clear round in 41.43 seconds while Ireland’s Shane Breen finished in third place with Cos I Can.

Tomorrow we shall see the exciting FEI Furusiyya Nations Cup in Rotterdam. However today the top combinations were already getting warmed up in a 1.55 competition. In a thrilling jump-off, last week’s Global Champion Tour Grand Prix winner Marcus Ehning rode his mare Noltes Küchengirl to the winning time. The Dutch Olympian Jeroen Dubbeldam followed in second place with Utasha Sfn, just in front of the Belgium’s Pieter Devos and his Belgian-bred mount Dream of India Greenfield.
