Bertram Allen & Molly Malone Win €82,000 Gaston GLOCK’s Championat CSI5* at Treffen

Young Irish talent Bertram Allen he rode his 12-year-old Anglo European bred mare Molly Malone V (Kannan X Cavalier) to victory on Friday, June 17th in the €82,000 Gaston GLOCK’s Championat CSI 5* in Treffen, Austria, clearing the course in the fastest time of 50.44 seconds to top the 22 out of 48 pairs that took part in the biggest class of the day.

Allen also had good results on Thursday at the Glock Horse Performance Show CIS5*, riding his young horse Christy Jnr when they won the GLOCK’s Youngster Tour.

“Today everything was just right. My horses are in top shape and conditions here are outstanding,” Allen said. “I will be riding Molly in the GLOCK’s 5* Grand Prix on Sunday too and do hope to be amongst the leaders again.”

Second place was for Piergiorgio Bucci of Italy, who finished one second slower than Allen, in 51.47 seconds, riding his 12-year-old Zangersheide stallion Casallo Z (Casall X Carthago).

Current World No. 7, France’s Kevin Staut, delivered a great clear round aboard his Belgian-bred 12-year-old mare Elky van het Indihof HDC in a time of 52.67 seconds to earn 3rd place.

Britain’s Laura Renwick and Bingtang II continued their top form to place 4th on clear rounds, and it was Gert Van Bruggink of the Netherlands who rounded out the top five with Vampire.

Competition will continue Saturday, June 18th with two five star classes that will precede the week’s finale competition, Sunday’s Grand Prix.
