Jessica Mendoza’s successful partner Ramiro de Belle Vu has passed away due to complications from colic surgery. The 16-year-old, SBS stallion (Mozart Des Hayettes x Capricieux Des 6 Censes) carried Mendoza, of Great Britain to many wins and milestones.

Ramiro de Belle Vu was campaigned by Belgium’s Jerome Guery and Vincent Lambrecht before joining Mendoza’s string. She partnered with the stallion in 2013, and amassed a slew of victories around the world. As a talented speed horse, Mendoza rode Ramiro de Belle Vu to her first career victories on the Global Champions Tour circuit, to her first derby win and he helped her win her first car.

The pair most recently completed a win streak at CSI2* Vilamoura, Spain, where they won three classes in a row together.

“The most cheeky and cheerful character who has a special place in all my teams heart,” Mendoza wrote on her Facebook page. “Thank you for everything and sweet dreams little man.”
