Beginning next week in vibrant Mexico City, the world’s top show jumpers will unite once again on the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT), now in its 12th season, and in the burgeoning Global Champions League (GCL) for its second season. As the first of fifteen spectacular destinations for this prestigious tour, the historic field of Campo Marte glistens as a gorgeous equestrian venue amidst a bustling metropolis. With a star-studded cast of show jumpers and talented horses heading south, the second year of LGCT Mexico City promises to be another event to remember.

From April 6th-9th, the expansive grass field will host 5* and 2* classes filled with athletes from over 20 countries, including 2016 LGCT Grand Prix of Mexico City winner Roger Yves Bost of France, World No. 1 Daniel Deusser, World No. 3 Christian Ahlmann, World No. 5 Eric Lamaze, World No. 6 Simon Delestre, World No. 8 Kevin Staut, and World No. 9 Scott Brash. Also ranked in the top 20 in the world, Steve Guerdat of Switzerland, Harrie Smolders of the Netherlands, and Lorenzo de Luca of Italy will add to the intensity of the competition.

With the chance to earn valuable points throughout the season, the individual highlight classes also offer large purses. The CSI5* schedule includes Thursday’s €93,000 ($99,000) Global Champions League Round One and Saturday’s €270,000 ($288,000) Global Champions League Final and €320,000 ($341,000) Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Mexico City.

Certain to once again boast an appreciative and exuberant crowd, the packed stands, sidelines and four-level VIP create an undeniable buzz. The centrally located Campo Marte is located on Avenue Paseo de la Reforma, next to the National Auditorium in Chapultepec Park. Among numerous attractions, the Avenida Presidente Masaryk, one of Latin America’s superb shopping areas, is just overt a kilometer away.

The luxurious, world-class Longines Global Champions Tour features destinations from gorgeous countrysides to dazzling urban locales in desirable locations such as Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Great Britain, Monaco, the Netherlands, China, Qatar, and the United States. From the top quality veterinary care of the Tour’s mobile vet clinic to the ringside viewing and exceptional dining of the elegant VIP hospitality, all the amenities of the Longines Global Champions Tour are available at each location.

Get ready for a week of unparalleled athleticism and supreme hospitality as Mexico City’s Campo Marte lights up with competitive and celebratory spirits, welcoming athletes, fans, and friends from around the world.
