Niels Bruynseels led a Belgian-strong leaderboard on Friday, December 29, 2017 in the Grand Prix Sport Vlaandren 1.50m at Jumping Mechelen CSI5*-W in Mechelen, Belgium.
Course designer Eddy Geysemans created a magnificent course where exactly 10 of the 43 starters remained faultless in the first round course of 1 m 50 of the Grand Prix Sport Flanders.
Bruynseels was the last starter in the jumpoff with Gancia de Muze. Niels: “I had seen Christophe Vanderhasselt on the TV and I thought he was going very fast, when I heard that time was constantly improving, I knew I could win because Gancia is a super fast horse. it must always be driven and today everything worked out perfectly as I wanted it to be, for me this victory is my best ever in Mechelen, this is even more beautiful than a place of honor in the World Cup. ”
Pieter Devos placed 2nd with Apart, Nicola Philippaerts was 3rd with H&M Harley vd Bisschop, and Christophe Vanderhasselt was 4th with Identity Vitseroel.
