ome on, we’ve all done it. You’re visiting a friend’s house and you ask where the bathroom is. As you’re washing your hands, curiosity gets the best of you. You slowly and carefully open the medicine cabinet hoping no one can hear you poking around. What you discover inside is not just the secrets of your friend’s personal care regime, but an array of nicely packaged products masquerading as healing lotions and potions. What you’re really looking at is a sea of chemicals that can wreak havoc on your health.

Did you know that transitioning to all-natural personal care products is one of the easiest and most effective ways to reduce your exposure to toxic chemicals? Toxins get into the body one of three ways – from the air we breathe, the water we drink, and from the food we eat. By switching to non-toxic personal care products, you’re making a conscious decision to take control over what gets absorbed into your skin. Our skin not only protects us from microbes and the elements, but it also helps to regulate body temperature and permits the sensations of touch, heat, and cold. Therefore, anything that is on the skin will penetrate our pores and find its way into the body, thus the saying ‘if it’s on you, it’s in you.’

"If it’s on you, it’s in you"

As equestrians, our skin must endure extreme weather conditions, including the hot sun, driving rains, constant exposure to dirt, dust and horse hair, not to mention often being covered in dripping and dried sweat. Realizing this, I came up with the idea of creating a premier line of 100% natural, plant-based, ‘clean beauty,’ personal care products designed specifically for the extreme demands of the rider. The Equestrian Wellness product line takes a modern apothecary approach to skincare – everything in the product line contains a simple list of natural, organic, and handcrafted ingredients that support a healthy and active lifestyle.

Equestrian Wellness’ Essential Helmet Spray

We all want to eliminate odors, right? Who doesn't like everything to smell clean and fresh all the time? There’s a reason the global air freshener market is estimated to reach $12 billion by 2023. The reality is we're surrounded by unpleasant odors that make us feel unclean and, on the far end of the spectrum, can be dangerous to our health (i.e., mold, bacteria, etc.). But simply covering up odors with products containing toxic chemicals can be detrimental to our health. The good news is there are more and more alternatives popping up offering effective solutions that don’t contain unwanted chemicals. Within these natural solutions contain a treasure trove of healing options that are more than capable of addressing the root causes of odors, neutralizing unpleasant smells and combating bacteria without compromising our health.

Speaking of strong odors, have you smelled the inside of your helmet and boots lately? The Essential Helmet Spray formula was designed to combat your sweat-filled equipment with a fresh scent that smells both clean and a little spicy. Our formula is based on the Thieves oil essential oil blend that was believed to have been used during the 15th century during the bubonic plague era in Europe & Asia. Apparently, thieves would rob the bodies of the deceased of their valuable possessions. Even though they came in close contact with the disease, the thieves miraculously never contracted the plague because they protected themselves with these wondrous oils. Let’s hope none of us are cultivating the plague in our helmets and boots. I love using this spray in my helmet, in boots, on fabrics, in my vehicle and even as a body spray to freshen up after a ride. It contains all-natural and non-toxic essential oils, including cloves, cinnamon, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, rosemary, and eucalyptus to eliminate foul odors and refresh all your sweaty things and spaces.

What is the Equestrian Wellness Brand?

We are a community of equestrian athletes who have a love of horses and our sport. We also demand a lot from ourselves – our bodies, minds, and spirits. Whether riding for pleasure or at the highest levels, we require an abundance of nutritional, physical and mental support. So many riders simply put themselves at the bottom of their own priority lists. Our horses receive the best food, supplements, care, and training, but at the end of the day, we barely have enough gas left in our personal tanks to get ourselves home to bed. We do so much for our horses and often forget that we need to give some time, attention, love and self-care to ourselves. With that in mind, EW connects riders to the world of nutrition and wellness by providing the tools, products, and education to make better choices when it comes to healthy food, lifestyle habits, wellness products, and mindfulness.

Equestrian Wellness is focused on connecting riders to essential resources for creating healthy and balanced lifestyles. So many people struggle to manage physical and emotional challenges such as hormonal imbalances, digestive maladies, allergies, energy deprivation, sleep disturbances, high stress and anxiety levels, and work/life balance without the necessary support of an expert. It’s impossible to succeed in the ring without a great coach and the same goes for creating wellness outside the ring. Grounded in a holistic approach to eating, living and being well, my health coaching practice involves working with clients to identify the root cause of their challenges and helping to find solutions that best fit their busy lifestyles.
